Bassike’s Carbon Neutral Runway Event, Showcasing the 2022 Resort Collection

Iconic sustainable fashion brand Bassike chose The Venue to showcase ‘Pause’, the 2022 Resort collection. The experiential runway event displayed earthy tones and subtle shapes which reflected the brand’s philosophy of high quality basics with design appeal. Guests were immersed in darkness and invited to switch off their phones and surrender to the experience before them moment by moment. In the midst of a busy schedule of Fashion Week Events – some of the first in the world to return in person after the impacts of Covid-19, attendees absorbed the sounds of nature as they morphed into rhythmic beats. The models strode along a polished concrete catwalk, the projected wall behind them reflecting the patterns and tones of the garments through kaleidoscopic hues resembling the tie dyed pattern of some of the pieces.

In line with a holistic approach to sustainable fashion, Bassike successfully executed a carbon neutral event. In a pioneering move for the fashion industry, power usage and carbon emissions were minimised, and the remainder was measured and offset through carbon management firm Pangolin Associates. Carbon offsetting of the show will be achieved through forest regeneration initiatives in the Amazon and Tasmania. This marks a trend in the events industry that will likely continue as companies become more focused on sustainability.
